Privacy Policy

Via ("the Extension", "the App", "we", "us") is a Chrome extension and web app that helps you rewrite messages and decode received messages using AI. This policy explains what data we handle and how.

Data We Process

When you use the Extension, the following data is sent to our servers solely to generate your AI response:

• Message text — the message you want to rewrite or analyze
• Relationship type — e.g. "friend", "colleague" (selected by you)
• Intent & concerns — optional tone preferences you select

This data is processed transiently to generate a response and is not stored on our servers after your request completes.

Data We Do Not Collect

• We do not require account creation or login
• We do not store your messages, names, or contact information
• We do not use cookies for tracking
• We do not sell data to third parties
• We do not use your data to train AI models

Local Storage

The Extension stores your language preference (English or Chinese) locally in chrome.storage.sync. This setting syncs across your Chrome devices via your Google account. No other data is stored locally.

Third-Party Services

Message text is processed by our API at viatonecraft.com, which uses Anthropic's Claude AI models. Anthropic's privacy policy applies to AI processing: anthropic.com/privacy.

We do not share your data with any other third parties.

Permissions

The Extension requests the following Chrome permissions:

• storage — to save your language preference locally
• activeTab — reserved for future active-tab features
• host_permissions (viatonecraft.com) — to make API requests for AI responses
• content_scripts (<all_urls>) — to inject the rewrite button into text inputs on any page

Children's Privacy

Via is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy. Changes will be reflected by the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance.
